Jan van Hoof Galerie: where minimalist kitchen design meets contemporary art
Artematica is the art of pure shapes in kitchen design where there is no dividing line between innovation and minimalist kitchen design, between the art of playing with colors and materials and the mathematics of pure shapes. Artematica is also the first kitchen in the world with an aluminum door structure that supports finishes of “pure” non-coupled materials.
In the dynamic realm of contemporary art, the Jan van Hoof Galerie stands out with its unique and extraordinary feature: a vibrant yellow kitchen, perfectly integrated within the gallery space, celebrating the fusion of art and kitchen design in an expression of contemporary living. This striking addition is not just a functional element but a testament to the gallery's innovative spirit and commitment to creating an immersive artistic environment.
This striking combination is not just a functional element but a tribute to the gallery's innovative spirit and commitment to creating an immersive artistic environment.
Celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, Jan van Hoof Galerie in the Netherlands offers more than just visual art; it presents a harmonious blend of living and creative spaces that captivate and inspire.
Situated amidst the picturesque backdrop of the river Dommel and Het Bossche Boek, the Jan van Hoof Galerie is renowned for its perfect fusion of historic charm and modern architectural innovation.
Originally a white brick villa dating back to the 1920s, the gallery underwent a transformative expansion in 2000. Architect Thomas Kemme's visionary concept, further enhanced by an extension pavilion in “béton brut”, seamlessly blends historical elegance with contemporary touch.
During the last years, the gallery unveiled its latest enhancement project, a tribute to its ongoing commitment to artistic innovation. Architects of Reset Architecture studio were tasked with creating a kitchen, fitting for a space equivalent to the gallery.
The centerpiece of this renovation is Artematica kitchen in Glossy Yellow Vitrum, designed by our long term dealer Bert van Vlijmen Keukenarchitectuur.
The choice of this minimalist kitchen design epitomizes both sophistication and ecological consciousness, reflecting Valcucine's dedication to merging traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technologies.
This glass kitchen not only serves as a functional space but also as a symbolic tribute to the gallery's vibrant spirit and its thirtieth anniversary celebration.
It stands as a tribute to Jan and Will van Hoof's dedication to blending contemporary art with their personal lifestyle, creating a harmonious fusion between art and domestic spaces.
Diversity in art is at the heart of their mission. They embrace a wide spectrum of two- and three-dimensional works, from painting and sculpture to drawing and installations. Their gallery has become known for its modern take on abstraction, yet they also celebrate the resurgence of figuration and landscape in contemporary art. This dual focus ensures that they remain at the cutting edge of artistic trends while honoring the rich traditions of visual storytelling.
Selection criteria at Jan van Hoof Galerie are stringent and deliberate. They seek out artists who display not only technical skill but also a willingness to take risks and imbue their work with personal significance. Each piece they exhibit tells a story, crafted with dedication, passion, and a keen sensitivity to materials. This commitment to quality and originality ensures that every visit to their gallery offers something new and inspiring.
The seamless incorporation of the kitchen into the gallery is truly remarkable: the kitchen, often referred to the heart of the home, becomes a central, bright hub within the gallery, merging kitchen arts with visual arts in a seamless blend.
The sleek, yellow glass surfaces of the kitchen reflect the bold, contemporary pieces displayed throughout the gallery, creating a cohesive aesthetic that bridges the gap between domestic and exhibition spaces.
Visitors are not only invited to view the artworks but also to experience the warm hospitality of the van Hoof family, who live and cook amidst their impressive collection of contemporary art.
This melding of spaces encourages a unique interaction with the art. As guests move from the gallery's exhibitions into the kitchen area, they transition from passive observation to active participation in the gallery's living, breathing artistic environment.
The kitchen serves as a literal and metaphorical centerpiece, a place where ideas and conversations flow as freely as the creative expressions on the walls.
Beyond its architectural achievements, Jan van Hoof Galerie remains a vibrant community hub where creativity blooms. Through its meticulously curated exhibitions and commitment to artistic diversity, the gallery continues to push boundaries while honoring artistic traditions. This harmonious blend of living space and gallery not only enhances the visitor experience but also underscores the Jan van Hoof Galerie ‘s unique approach to integrating art into every aspect of life.
