“Arte in Motion”: how to personalize glass kitchens. A competition by Valcucine Chicago | Mobili Möbel
Our partner Valcucine Chicago | Mobili Möbel has organized a creative event titled “Art in Motion,” aiming to showcase our exceptional Vitrum Arte technique and the customization of glass kitchens.
For this occasion, they invited local designers and architects to capture the concept of “motion” using Vitrum Arte as the artistic medium.
Amongst the main architectural firms that had the pleasure of exhibiting their works, we can find names such as Wheeler Kearns – Searle Lamaster Howe – Lamar Johnson Collaborative – Michael Hershenson Architects – CI Design + Build – Gosling Group – Alice Benjamin Interiors – dSPACE Studio – Skidmore, Owens & Merrill – Foster Dale Architects – studio de le:u.
The event showcased to the participant public, of more than 150 people, and the design community how it is possible to personalize Valcucine glass kitchens cabinetry.
This theme springs to life through the design crafted by architect Gordon Gill, founder of SmithGill architecture, who skillfully captured the essence of his daughter's dance in an abstract form, resulting in a stunning creation.
During the competition organized for this event, Valcucine Chicago | Mobili Möbel, requested local design and architecture firms to submit Vitrum Arte designs that were inspired by the idea of “motion.” These designs were then applied to glass panels by our artisan.

These themes of personalization and creativity aligns very closely with our philosophy as we have consistently contributed to the culture of beauty through Vitrum Arte. Our exclusive technique developed during two years of research and that lets us reproduce designs on glass which are applied manually using an extraordinary inlay technique. To be accomplished, this extremely innovative process still requires the patient and fundamental work of man.
Vitrum Arte in our kitchens uses the same wood inlay technique that, over centuries, has produced authentic masterpieces and very fine and admirable handcrafted objects. We at Valcucine revisited the wood inlay technique using modern materials such as glass and coloured film instead.
Just like in the past, we use the same traditional technique that is performed entirely by hand and makes each piece unique.
During the event, among the judges involved in the selection and announcement of the winner, there were architect Gordon Gill, artists Anita Vermeeren and Gabrielle Stone.
Foster Dale Architects emerged as the ultimate winner, courtesy of the jury's decision. Meanwhile, the popular jury recognized the Gosling group as the standout and noteworthy artwork.
