OAT 2013 – Behind the door

This year's Oslo Architecture Triennale (OAT) marks the 5th edition, and is titled Behind the Door – and the desire for sustainability. OAT's main exhibition open on September 19. All the selected objects form a collection of curiosities, exhibited at DogA until December 1.

The main exhibition investigates a broad variety of building that claim to be sustainable. Rather than starting from a preconceived assumption as to what is to be considered sustainable, and then trying to find good examples to illustrate that point, the curators Rotor choose to document that what is being called sustainable by others: Digital render, façade study model, software package, promotional leaflet, material sample, mock-up, quote … the collection of physical and digital objects displays through an impressive quantity of materials how architects deal with sustainability.

The exhibits in the collection tell the story of the ‘green' features of important architectural projects from all over the world. Taken together, these stories reveal how architecture and planning, scientific practice, creative gesture, business opportunity and political power play are intertwined under the umbrella of sustainability.

Valcucine implements projects that have convinced and concrete environmental ethics as their common denominator and takes part in OAT with Invitrum and the project Meccanica by demode engineered by Valcucine.  Both projects can be seen in the pictures below.
